The re-opening of two
Namibian-South African border posts, namely Mata Mata and

Countless places of
interest in the Western & Northern Cape Provinces of South Africa

Cape of Good Hope with Namibia. A multitude of
variations to a trip routing from either Windhoek or Cape Town

Kalahari are now easy to explore in context, if using the Mata Mata
Gate of the Kgalagadi Nat. Park that also serves as a border post.
On the Namibian side, the
Kalahari experience may be complemented by
encounters with ethnic African cultures, such as the
San and Herero
peoples, who inhabit this fertile desert since times untold.
About 10-14 tour days
are required to cover the entire eastern "Cape-to-Namibia" routing
option,
which makes allowance for a 1- to 2-night stay in both
Windhoek and Cape Town.
Travelling in a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended throughout
the year for comfort reasons. It's a must only during the
rainy season (Nov - Apr), due to the dirt roads in the Kalahari, but
a small price to pay for the awe-inspiring sights of a green
flowering desert teeming with the offspring of game species.
