We understand ourselves as a
part of our immediate and greater environments and see it as our
responsibility and as a great pleasure to play an active role in
both. This is reflected in our business philosophy and how we
operate on a day-to-day basis.
We will provide you with more information on these topics in future
updates. For introduction purposes the following text summarises how
the Giardino relates to the tourist destination Swakopmund as well
as the surrounding coastal and desert areas:
Our guest house (or hotel-pension, the official term used in Namibia) is
situated in Kramersdorf, a quiet residential area of Swakopmund, surrounded by
beautiful gardens. Wedged between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean,
Swakopmund represents a successful merger of the old-world charm of a European
sea-side resort with the uniqueness of its natural - typical Namibian -
surroundings and the conveniences of a modern life-style.
This unusual
combination of characteristics is also reflected in the Giardino, which aims at
keeping guests inspired, stimulated and positively surprised throughout their
stay. The Giardino is an experience on its own, its high-quality accommodation and
professional services honouring the individual and allowing mind, body and soul
to recover from the stressful demands of every-day life. The environment created
in the Giardino is nurturing yet non-intrusive, providing our guests with
opportunities around every corner to experience their holidays as a happy and
meaningful adventure. We hope that the casually-relaxed ambience provided will
not only satisfy our guests but make them enthusiastic about what they
experience.
Apart from the pleasures to be enjoyed at our attractive and affordable vacation
retreat, there are countless places of interest along the Skeleton Coast waiting
to be explored. There is a variety of options suitable for just about everyone regardless
of age, origin, budget, preferences and hobbies.
Most of Swakopmund's historic
sites, museums, shops and restaurants are situated within a leisurely 10-15
minute walk from the Giardino. These alone can easily fill a 2-day sightseeing
programme to the brim, if the visitor takes the time to learn more about
Namibia's eventful history, its fascinating marine life, and unique geological
features next to giving in to the temptations on offer at cosy street-side
cafés, restaurants, excellent craft shops and open-air souvenir markets. The
ultimate gift to a loved one must be a hand-made piece of jewellery skilfully
crafted from Namibian gemstones whose purity and age are exceptional.
Just as
hard to beat is the variety and quality of adventure and sporting activities on
offer in Namibia's central coastal area ranging from comfortable guided
excursions in air-conditioned off-road vehicles and modern aircraft to demanding
physical challenges that require a high level of skill and endurance.
Whichever
way is chosen to experience Namibia and especially the Skeleton Coast, the
visitor can be sure to find skin-deep encounters with the majestic features of
Mother Nature in their purest form when exploring the Namib, the oldest desert
on earth, and the treasures of the southern Atlantic Ocean. |
